Suas is proud to provide a range of activities for young people in Ireland, covering community building, awareness raising, development education and fundraising.
We engage young people with the challenges of social development and equip them with the confidence, capacity and life-long commitment to effect positive change.

The programme is targeted at all young people in Ireland - North and South.

What is involved?
There are now 7 Suas societies nationwide with over 1800 members across Cork (CIT, UCC), Dublin (TCD, UCD. DCU), Galway (NUIG) and Maynooth (NUIM). These are involved in a range of activities including fundraising for our partner schools overseas, awareness raising and volunteering with local community projects.

Irelands population is a mere 4 million people. What about the other 6 billion people in the world? What is their story? How many people are living in extreme poverty and why? How many people have no access to basic health facilities and why? How many conflicts are currently happening in the world and why?
The global issues courses support informed debate and constructive engagement by young people with social and development issues in Ireland and abroad. Respected national experts facilitate our global issues courses at eight locations across Ireland.
Each evening begins with a presentation (Education, Debt, Trade, Conflict, Environment, Equality, Gender, Trafficking, etc.), and the seminar develops based on questions and comments from those attending. Courses begin each Autumn and Spring.
The Bridge to College
The Bridge to College (B2C) programme aims to provide students from designated disadvantaged second-level schools with an innovative learning experience. The aim of the B2C is to demonstrate the power of technology to facilitate a dynamic, creative and cross-curricular learning experience.
A team of third level mentors work with the students and guide them through structured technology-mediated learning activities during the week-long programme. Since opening it's doors in November 2007, the B2C programme has engaged more than 1000 students from schools in the Dublin area.

Suas Mentoring Programme
The Mentoring Programme offers support to people at the margins of the education system. Suas Societies work in partnership with local community organisations to run Mentoring Programmes in Dublin, Galway and Cork.
The Mentoring Programmes work with three groups - children from designated disadvantaged schools, Refugees and Asylum Seekers and members of the Travelling Community.
Events
Our programme of events includes the Extraordinay Lives series, 1,000 Families, Alternative Career nights and one-off nights such as the Fairtrade presentation.

There is a desire among young people in Ireland to use their skills to make a difference and give something back to society. Young people want to change the world. The only question is... where to start?
Extraordinary Lives is a series of inspiring events that provide young people with an opportunity to engage with some of the world's change-makers. The event presents a platform for people that have effected a positive change in society at a local, national and international level, to present their personal reflections on life, leadership and making a difference. Extraordinary Lives aims to break leadership down into a step by step process, making the process of changing society more accessible to a young audience, encouraging young people to use their skill sets to effect a positive change in their local communities and beyond as they set out on their careers.
