Suas is sad to announce the passing of our friend Madam Phelgona Otieno, a teacher at Maweni Primary School in Mombasa. Madam Otieno became ill on her way to school last Friday, and passed away shortly afterwards.

Madam Otieno, from Homa Bay, Kisumu, worked with Maweni for 18 years and had four children, two girls and two boys, the youngest of whom is 11.

Madam Otieno had welcomed Suas Volunteers into her class since the Volunteer Programme began in Maweni in 2006.

Suas would like to extend condolences to Madam Otieno's family, friends and colleagues at Maweni Primary School. She will be sadly missed.
