Reports and Reviews

The Programme and our partner schools are constantly evolving to meet the changing needs and challenges we face. Reviews and reports are essential for gathering information and building upon the lessons learnt each year.

Each Volunteer completes two individual reports: the first mid-placement, the second upon Programme completion. Each team also creates a placement report which is used to inform future Volunteers of each assignment’s intricacies. The Partners also produce an account detailing the activities, benefits and challenges of the Volunteer placements, from which they can generate recommendations and requests for subsequent years.

All of this feedback is reviewed by the Volunteer Programme team, who enhance future programmes by building upon the lessons learned.

Return Weekend

Each October, the Volunteers attend a debriefing weekend following their return. This provides an opportunity to reflect upon their placements, and to share their experience and learning with other Volunteers. Over the weekend, we revisit the highs and lows of the Programme, generate feedback, provide suggestions for future Programmes and discuss each Volunteer’s personal goals for the future.

Return Reception

The return reception acts as a platform for the Volunteers to present their placements and Partner organisations to their friends, family and the Programme's supporters. This is accomplished through placement videos and photo exhibitions. It is also a chance to thank everybody who was involved with the Programme.

After the Programme

Although the return weekend marks the formal end of the Programme, many Volunteers are involved in follow-up projects after their return.  Previous actions have included: writing articles for local, national and college papers, giving presentations in schools and fundraising events.

Volunteers also have the chance to remain involved with other Suas activities. These include: University Societies, the Alumni NetworkPartner Support and the Bridge21 Programme. Many Volunteers also return to assist with the marketing, interviews and preparation weekends of successive Volunteer Programmes, some even return as Programme coordinators.
