Since 2002, Suas has gone through a period of rapid growth. In 2003, there was one employee, today there are 17 full-time equivalents (FTEs), including those who volunteer on a part-time basis in the office.

There are hundreds of people volunteering with Suas activities around Ireland, such as mentoring projects, fundraising and raising awareness of Global Issues.

The support to our partners funds the employment of at least 100 educational staff in India and Kenya.



We are currently recruiting for the roles below:

Communications Executive (maternity cover contract)

The Communications Executive is an integral part of the Suas Business Development Team who will design, develop and execute marketing and communications activities that support the image, perception and positioning of Suas overall and its respective programmes. This is a support role but it is essential that the jobholder has the experience and expertise to advise and influence Programme Managers on all aspects of marketing their programmes and communicating their activities and results. Communications will serve a variety of purposes from support of fundraising, events and their management, online presence (including social networking), PR, content management, and style guideline implementation. Global Issues Campus Coordinator

The Suas Global Issues Course is a 7 week evening course which provides participants with an introduction to development issues. Sessions are delivered by experienced facilitators and development practitioners and are participatory and interactive. Students from all disciplines are very welcome to join and no prior knowledge of development issues is needed. Each session takes place for 2 hours one evening a week. We are looking for Campus Co-ordinators to support the delivery of the Global Issues courses on UCC, UCD and TCD campuses. 8x8 Festival Campus Coordinator

8x8 is organised by Suas Educational Development and is taking place on five university campuses around Ireland this autumn. It is part of Global Campus, a new initiative designed to enable students to learn more about major development issues and the part that they can play in bringing about change. We are seeking 8x8 Festival Campus Coordinators on UCC and UCD campuses to support the effective and efficient organisation of the festival on campus. The Coordinator will be the main point of contact with the 8x8 Festival Project Manager in the Suas Office, with the Suas Society and with 8x8 Working Group on campus. Literacy Support Programme Volunteer Mentor Coordinator

Suas Literacy Support Programme currently operates in major cities across Ireland and works at the ‘coal face’ providing direct learning-support for 8 to 14 year olds attending DEIS schools to improve their standard of literacy. The Mentor Coordinator will be the main point of contact on campus for the Literacy Support Programme, working with Suas Literacy support team (Dublin Head Office) and a Regional Coordinator, the Mentor Coordinator will support the implementation of literacy support projects in local DEIS Schools. Suas Societies Intern (9 month internship)

We are now offering an internship for a period of 9 months in the Suas office as Suas Societies Intern. The Ireland Programme evolved from returned volunteers wanting to continue their involvement with Suas once back in Ireland. Since then, it has expanded into three main areas – Suas Societies, Literacy Support Programme and Global Citizenship Programme. The Societies Intern will look after the Suas Societies nationwide. Currently there are four in operation in Ireland - TCD, DCU, UCC and NUIG with over 2,000 members engaged in various Suas activities. The Intern will be responsible for ongoing communications and building the capacity of Suas societies. An element of the Intern’s role will also include supporting the continued development of the Suas Alumni network as per the Alumni Strategy through ongoing communication and support. Suas Global Campus Intern (8 month internship)

Global Campus is a non-formal development education programme that aims to empower third-level students to become active citizens with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to “effect change for a more just and equal world” (White Paper on Irish Aid, 2007). Suas is leading a consortium of 4 NGOs to develop, deliver and evaluate the programme on 13 University campuses across 4 European countries. The programme focuses on increasing the practice and quality of non-formal education for global citizenship (EGC) at Third Level to support Third Level Students’ positive action on global development issues on a sustainable basis.The Programme Intern will play a vital role in supporting the preparations for, and delivery of, the Global Campus Programme in 5 university locations during the 2014/15 academic year.
