The role of Suas Global Issues Course Coordinator
We're looking for on-campus coordinators to help us deliver the Suas Global Issues Courses in each of the following locations: DCU, NUIG, TCD, UCC, UCD and Maynooth University.
During the placement Global Issues Course Coordinators act as point of contact between participants, facilitators and Suas. Coordinators have the opportunity to gain skills in promotion, monitoring and evaluation and management - while also getting valuable work experience with an international development NGO.
The role is voluntary and will require a time commitment of a minimum of 3 hours per week during autumn (2 hours of which will involve attending each session). Full training and support will be given throughout the placement to ensure you get the most out of the experience.
What is the Global Issues Course?
The Global Issues Course is a 7 week evening course for students which focuses on development issues. In a nutshell, it explains how our world works and how we can make it a more equal place. The course is interactive and delivered by experienced facilitators. Students from all disciplines are welcome to apply, sessions typically run for 2 hours, 1 evening a week (the opening and closing sessions run for 2.5 hours).
Who are we looking for?
- Someone who is passionate and committed to social change.
- Someone who is looking to gain experience in the NGO sector.
- A strong communicator with great interpersonal skills.
- Someone who organised and enjoys planning.
- (No experience necessary as full training provided!)
